Winter Weddings

For reasons that aren't exactly clear, this winter's been very busy, with October, November and December on a par with the busy summer months.

I like winter weddings. OK, the days are shorter, and it's a bit colder, but the sun is lower in the sky giving the light a different quality, and indoors the warmth of artificial lighting and open fires can add an ambience that you don't get in peak summer.

There's a higher risk of rain of course, but only really at the start and end of winter, and January and February are more likely to be dry and crisp.

This year, the weather's been quite kind and we've been lucky. These images were from Hayley & Greg's wedding at the Quay in Deganwy, a few days before Christmas. The venue sits right on the Conwy Estuary, so it can be a bit breezy, but these were taken in the courtyard in the centre of the hotel - a little haven, perfect for wedding photography.
